Look at that cover! 😍 If I’m honest, the beautiful cover art is 75% of the reason I chose to read this book. The other quarter is because of this book preview I saw on Nisha’s Tiktok page:

What if Cinderella was murdered? A unique take on a classic fairytale, this book absolutely delighted me! I cannot recommend it enough. It has everything- magic, suspense, romance, and best of all, humor.

Spellbound After Midnight by Jenna Collett is a mystery fantasy romance novel loosely based on the fairytale Cinderella. Except in this story, “Cinderella,” a young peasant girl named Ella, is found drowned in the castle fountain the night of the prince’s ball. And our heroine, Tessa Daniels, is the town witch who granted her the spell for her enchanted dress just hours before. Facing suspicion, bankruptcy, and a guilty conscience, Tessa reluctantly teams up with Royal Detective Derrick Chambers to catch the murderer and help avenge Ella (whose spirit may or may not be haunting her!).

Having seen the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy (yes, it’s a trilogy that stops after At World’s End) countless times, it should be no surprise that I love a good pirate story. And one about a strong female pirate who holds her own in a traditionally man’s world? Count me in.

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller follows seventeen-year-old Alosa Kalligan, the titular daughter of notorious pirate king Kalligan. The story starts right in the middle of the action with Alosa being captured by a rival pirate ship. Since Alosa is telling the story in first-person, however, we also know that the capture is actually staged. It is all part of her plan to board the rival ship and steal a portion of a treasure map.

Avatar meets House of Anubis meets Percy Jackson in this exciting new YA contemporary fantasy series by debut author Cristina Macari. I LOVE this book! I read it one sitting and need the next book immediately!

Our protagonist is sixteen-year-old Orion Candor who, at the start of the story, is sent to live with an estranged family friend in her late grandmother’s house. Orion has lived a pretty normal life up until this point… except for the occasional, strange powers she keeps hidden that she calls her “wavelengths.” They allow her to sometimes feel and manipulate the wind around her.

In this land hidden within our modern world, Orion learns that she comes from a long line of sorcerers.
