Top ten bookish merch I’d love to own

Happy Tuesday fellow book-lovers! Though I’m new to the blogosphere, I’ve come across this super fun thing called Top Ten Tuesdays! TTT is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every Tuesday, she posts a new bookish topic and list for discussion to her blog. Today’s topic is “Top Ten Bookish Merchandise I’d Love To Own.”

So (in no particular order) here are ten book-related goodies at the top of my wish list:

1. Bookish candles and wax melts

I am very into candles right now. I’ve been lighting one while either reading for pleasure or working on assignments for school. So I am loving this current trend of bookish candles and wax melts that smell like popular favorite characters and fictional places!

Wicked Is the Reaper by Nisha J. Tuli: Review

Wicked Is the Reaper book cover

Wicked Is the Reaper – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Look at that cover! 😍 If I’m honest, the beautiful cover art is 75% of the reason I chose to read this book. The other quarter is because of this book preview I saw on Nisha’s Tiktok page:

“A good princess does as she’s told… until the Reaper comes to claim her. Then she does what she wants.”

Wicked Is the Reaper is an adult fantasy romance novella inspired by Beauty and the Beast. It is 118 pages of suspense and steamy enemies-to-lovers romance. The novella officially releases on April 20, but you can read it early (and for free!) by subscribing to Nisha J. Tuli’s newsletter.

Incense and Sensibility by Sonali Dev: Review

Incense and Sensibility book cover

Incense and Sensibility – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jane Austen, but make it desi! I just love the concept behind Sonali Dev’s latest romance series – a reimagining of classic Austen tales featuring 21st century desi leads.

Incense and Sensibility, similar to its inspiration, Sense and Sensibility, explores themes of family, love, and responsibility. Yash, eldest son of the influential Raje family, is the first Indian-American gubernatorial candidate for the state of California. When his friend is critically injured by a hate crime at one of his rallies, Yash’s world is shaken. At his next campaign event, he blacks out with panic.

With the election so close, his family urge him to seek immediate help in the form of his sister’s best friend – India Dashwood (someone they can trust not to leak Yash’s condition to the media). India runs her family’s yoga studio and is currently California’s foremost stress management coach.

Spellbound After Midnight by Jenna Collett: Review

Spellbound After Midnight book cover

Spellbound After Midnight
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What if Cinderella was murdered? A unique take on a classic fairytale, this book absolutely delighted me! I cannot recommend it enough. It has everything- magic, suspense, romance, and best of all, humor.

Spellbound After Midnight by Jenna Collett is a mystery fantasy romance novel loosely based on the fairytale Cinderella. Except in this story, “Cinderella,” a young peasant girl named Ella, is found drowned in the castle fountain the night of the prince’s ball. And our heroine, Tessa Daniels, is the town witch who granted her the spell for her enchanted dress just hours before. Facing suspicion, bankruptcy, and a guilty conscience, Tessa reluctantly teams up with Royal Detective Derrick Chambers to catch the murderer and help avenge Ella (whose spirit may or may not be haunting her!).

Daughter of the Pirate King duology: Review

Daughter of the Pirate King book cover

Daughter of the Pirate King – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Having seen the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy (yes, it’s a trilogy that stops after At World’s End) countless times, it should be no surprise that I love a good pirate story. And one about a strong female pirate who holds her own in a traditionally man’s world? Count me in.

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller follows seventeen-year-old Alosa Kalligan, the titular daughter of notorious pirate king Kalligan. The story starts right in the middle of the action with Alosa being captured by a rival pirate ship. Since Alosa is telling the story in first-person, however, we also know that the capture is actually staged. It is all part of her plan to board the rival ship and steal a portion of a treasure map.

Secrets of Isoria by Cristina Macari: Review

Secrets of Isoria book cover

Secrets of Isoria – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Avatar meets House of Anubis meets Percy Jackson in this exciting new YA contemporary fantasy series by debut author Cristina Macari. I LOVE this book! I read it one sitting and need the next book immediately!

Our protagonist is sixteen-year-old Orion Candor who, at the start of the story, is sent to live with an estranged family friend in her late grandmother’s house. Orion has lived a pretty normal life up until this point… except for the occasional, strange powers she keeps hidden that she calls her “wavelengths.” They allow her to sometimes feel and manipulate the wind around her.

Instead of sending her to regular high school, her new guardian Banden whisks Orion to the magical island of Isoria. In this land hidden within our modern world, Orion learns that she comes from a long line of sorcerers. Here, she is introduced to the Isorian magic system based on the four elements: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire.
